Kids have the wildest and most unbridled narrative imaginations. And the Story Pirates are good at capturing the brilliance of young authors and adapting their ideas for sketch comedy, books, and music. Their Story Pirates Podcast has now been downloaded more than 10 million times, and they are releasing their second album this week, Backstroke Raptor, based on the weirdest and twistiest stories created by real kids. From the title track about a swimming dinosaur, to a busy hamster editor, to a dude made of cement who wants to trek across the “dry dry dry dry desert,” this album will tingle your earbuds with unexpected delights. Mashable premiered one song “The Wizard Who Could Just Go Poof” and interviewed a young author and the Story Pirates co-founders about their rising success lately.
Also coming soon is a brand-new podcast for families that want to make change. Grammy-nominated Alphabet Rockers launch “So Get Me” on June 15th. Each episode features a danceable track from their acclaimed album Rise Shine #Woke, and young activists share the ways they stand up to hate. Host Samara Atkins takes listeners backstage with Kaitlin, Tommy and several Alphabet Rocker kids and special guests.
Next month, Portland’s Ants Ants Ants will release a deeply layered and super cool new Robot EP. The first song, “Robot Robot” was premiered with NW Kids magazine, and the band will travel east in June to perform at Wolf Trap Theatre-in-the-Woods and also at SiriusXM and WTMD radio studios.
