Spring is definitely sprung here in the Pacific Northwest, and we’re delighted to treat our ears to some fresh new tunes!

Jessa Campbell extols the joys of these longer, brighter days with her new single and music video, “How I Love You, Sun.” The RockMommy posted an exclusive interview and debuted the animated, Pacific Northwest-made video on May 9th. With her band The Saplings, this Oregon-based performer bridges the worlds of music and ecology by enchanting young audiences with the wonders of nature through her songs. Educators, caregivers and parents can expect a blend of familiar folk children’s songs mixed with original tunes written about what it’s like to grow up in the Pacific Northwest, or anywhere where nature is around us.

Another sunny collection of tunes is coming out soon from 3-time GRAMMY nominee Brady Rymer and his Little Band that Could. Their cover of the Jimmy Cliff classic “You Can Get It If You Really Want” was just released in a Geekdad post. Brady’s joyous and inspiring new Under the Big Umbrella album arrives on May 17th.  You Can Get It If You Really Want BR image

Sean McCollough offers kids a very solid and rootsy collection of tunes in his album Earworm. Catch the Americana Highways debut of the song “Rag Doll.” It’s a new and original song, though sounds like something from the American folk tradition.

In other news, the Story Pirates continue to wow parents and kids alike at their sold-out family shows in NYC and LA. They’ll release a new kid-inspired collection of story songs, which originally aired on their top-rated podcast, on June 14th. See if you can keep up with the “Backstroke Raptor” and other tunes.

This summer promises to be another hot one for live family music. From Wolf Trap to Pickathon, the City of Las Vegas’ concert series, to the Kidzapalooza stage at Lollapalooza, there’s something for everyone.  Plus, Raffi’s on tour, and he is playing four shows over the weekend of June 1 and 2 in Worcester and Providence. He just released Motivational Songs compilation album for #BelugaGrads and those concerned with #ChildHonouring. Soon, we’ll be excited to announce a new family music festival this fall in Portland, Oregon.
