Winter Warm-ups: The Okee Dokee Brothers Soft Winter Playlist, 2018 Award-Winners, Family Concert News, and a Peek at 2019
The Okee Dokee Brothers are celebrating the release of their stellar new album Winterland with several family concerts this season. On Saturday and Sunday, they’ll perform in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. Then on January 5th and 6th, they’re in NYC at Symphony Space, and at the Sellersville theater in Pennsylvania. Check their tour schedule for details on several other shows.

Aside from streaming playlists, a good way to discover cool music for kids is by checking out the “best of the year” lists and awards. Both Parents’ Choice and NAPPA recently announced several new album awards, including some of our favorites. Our clients Frances England, The Not-Its!, Suzi Shelton, Ants Ants Ants, Red Yarn and Gunnar Madsen all made the top 10 list on the annual Fids and Kamily critics’ poll. Kira Willey was selected for this year’s Joe Raposo Award for children’s songwriting, for her tune “Real Girls” off the album Every Voice.
Here in Portland, Oregon Family Magazine and NW Kids magazine published a roundup of great albums from this past year. And, if your picky little eaters need an appetite boost, Kathy O’Connell of WXPN Kids Corner radio fame, published her favorite songs about food in MetroKids magazine this month. And, the GRAMMY nominations for best children’s album will be announced next week, on December 5th.
