Fall children’s music news.
Like most years, this September is a very busy time for new music. We’re excited to be working with so many excellent publishers, labels and artists, all of whom are offering wonderful new original songs, books, videos, and other media this fall. - The Not-Its! had an incredibly busy performance summer, with shows at SubPop’s SPF/30 festival and Madison Square Park. They’re back home and about to celebrate the release of their rockin new album, Ready or Not! Let the fall games begin!
- Tom Mason and the Blue Buccaneers will perform their rollicking piratical tunes at Pilgrimage Festival in Nashville for the 4th year in a row. They just released the perfect party soundtrack for Talk Like a Pirate Day: If You Want To Be a Pirate:Songs for Young Buccaneers. Ahoy there, mateys! Don’t be scurvy bilgerats. Play these tunes, and catch their shows at this year’s Pilgrimage Festival in Nashville.
- Grammy winner Tim Kubart will also release a new album for families at the end of September: Building Blocks. These 12 new original songs a pop celebration all about growing: growing wiser, growing bolder, and, above all, growing our circle of caring for family, friends, and those around us. Tim Kubart is the 2016 Grammy Award-winner for Best Children’s Album, a television and podcast host, children’s book author, and Sesame Street songwriter. He has earned a prominent place in the family music world for get-up-and-dance tunes that connect with kids by speaking to the experiences that shape their world.
- This Just In!: The Story Pirates, known for turning kids’ stories into hilarious sketch comedy (and for their fun podcast for kids), will release their first album of 12 original songs. Nothing Is Impossible will arrive by the month’s end. Stay tuned here for more news.
The newly released compilation album Hold Tight, Shine Bright was produced by Los Angeles based artists Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band, Andrew and Polly, Dale Edward Chung and Mista Cookie Jar (aka the Hold Tight, Shine Bright Collective) in response to the horrible situation of children and families separated at the border this summer. Proceeds from album sales on Bandcamp and iTunes will benefit RAICES, The Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services.The 501(c)3 nonprofit organization provides legal aid to displaced refugee and immigrant families.
