New Songs for Spring ~
Just in time for April’s Autism Awareness month, three-time GRAMMY nominated artist Brady Rymer will release a party mix of his hit song for kids on the spectrum, “Love Me for Who I Am.” He’ll pair this with a cover of the song “I’m Comin’ Out,” and he plans to perform school and public shows to celebrate the release of these singles in April, including at NYC’s Lincoln Center. Details are at Bradyrymer.com.
La Luna by 123 Andrés ~ Latin GRAMMY winner Andrés and his wife Christina spend most of their time in the United States, but Andrés’ ties to South America carry them across the continent. La luna was produced in Argentina and Mexico, and the list of top-tier guests hail from several countries. The special surprise that closes the album is an appearance by Little Miss Ann (a noted Chicago based kindie artist) with a tender song in English and Spanish called “Fly, Shine, Soar” (April 13). After a Texas tour that included SXSW week shows, 123 Andrés will appear at several California venues this spring.
Wild Is Everywhere by Sara Lovell ~ Sweet songs for Earth Day and Mother’s Day!: Imaginative, thoughtful and loving tunes from one of the clearest voices in family music. ‘Grab onto the tail of someone’s kite’ and journey through a musical landscape filled with surprise visits from large animals to disco-dance parties to adventures in the wild-ness that lies just outside your door (April 20). Sara plans an album release party in Oakland on April 28.
Red Yarn’s Old Barn by Red Yarn ~ Portland’s impresario of family music delivers a barn full of songs, both old and new, featuring his beloved critter pals. This time, the socially conscious lyrics and storytelling hit new depths. Guests include Justin Lansing of The Okee Dokee Brothers and Jenny Conlee of the Decemberists. You won’t want to miss the new music video of the title track, or the activist anthem “Old Hen Cackled” (April 27). Just back from SXSW, Red Yarn plans a big full-band show in Portland on April 28.
