Tim Kubart, a Brooklyn, NY, based singer-songwriter who is also known as the host of Sprout’s “Sunny Side Up Show” and as the “Tambourine Guy” with Postmodern Jukebox, won a GRAMMY Award for Best Children’s Album. The award was announced at the pre-telecast Premiere Ceremonies at the Microsoft Theater at LA Live in Los Angeles on Monday, February 15th. The award was for his album of pop tunes, Home.
Tim grew up on Long Island, NY, and Newsday was among the first news media to interview him after the win. Zooglobble, the nexus of family music news, also recapped a weekend of children’s album nominees activities over the weekend.
Kubart was among five first-time nominees in the children, all of whom are also independent artists making music for families in a variety of styles. In his acceptance speech, Kubart noted the themes of kindness in all of the nominated albums, and he thanked a host of people who support his work.
