September 25, 2015 ~ Today is a banner day in the children’s music calendar. Three gems shine their light for the first time today, and there’s a lot of other good news to share.

Sprout Channel host Tim Kubart‘s Home is out now, with guest spots by Laurie Berkner, Matt Puckett (Mother Falcon), and Carly Ciarrocchi (check out the debut of “Breakfast Club” music video via Zooglobble).Tim performs several all-ages shows this fall, including sets at Austin City Limits Festival. Tim performs a Rumpus Room show on SiriusXM Satellite Radio’s Kids Place Live this weekend, starting tonight!
Today’s the day for Hot Peas ‘N Butter‘s seventh album, Put Our Heads Together (featuring the song “Amistad” with Dan Zanes (a music video is coming soon). Join the bilingual fun as this NYC based band celebrates friendship and cooperation in song.

THIS WEEKEND! Ralph Covert (Ralph’s World) set up the first-ever “Little Pilgrims” stage at the inaugural Pilgrimage Fest near Nashville. Jazzy Ash, Farmer Jason, Secret Agent 23 Skidoo and Laura Doherty also perform. Catch the news HERE.
Coming in October Dreams Are Made for Children: The latest book from The Secret Mountain, jazz standards from artists like Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole and Billie Holiday, with a picture book to share. Smiles Ahead – a collection of sunny songs from top artists, a first album from new label called Mighty Mo Productions. Brady Rymer kicks off the fun with “Jump Up!” and newcomers Rissi Palmer and Katydid add to the smiles. WXPN FM’s Kids Corner radio recently debuted “Get Happy,” an all-new song from The Verve Pipe. It’s #SmilesAhead this fall. Pop icon Lisa Loeb will also debut a new children’s album in October. More news next week.
It’s Hispanic Heritage Month “Cruising in el Minivan” Did you hear this piece on NPR’s Alt.Latino last week? It’s an “alt.Papi” oriented review of bilingual music for children. Many congratulations to José-Luis Orozco’s release of Come Bien/Eat Right!(Smithsonian Folkways). Viva, too, for Adelante, the newly Latin GRAMMY nominated album by Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band. Both artists are included in this definitive NPR review piece.
Best Music of 2015
